Department of international relations was found in 1991 for the purpose of establishing cooperation with foreign research institutions, organizations and companies in the field of mining engineering.

The main purpose of the Department is to develop and increase efficiency of international activity of the Mining Institute, as well as strengthening and extension of international relations in the field of scientific cooperation.

Department of International Relations:
takes an active part in establishing and developing research and exchange contacts with foreign partners;
helps to prepare contracts with foreign partners and to complete different contract documents;
takes part in organization and translation of international meetings, conferences, and workshops;
participates in organization and reception of foreign citizens and delegations;
assists the institute personnel with participation in international events which contribute to development of the Mining Institute activity.
assists with processing documents as for the Institute personnel having foreign business trips, so for foreign partners and guests.

Mining Institute has international relationships with research organizations, industrial companies and firms in many foreign countries. The cooperation is multilateral: from joint R&D to making projects and contacts for delivery, selling and transfer of research products, establishment of joint operations. Besides, Mining Institute has stable links with universities of the countries with widely developed mining industry, and carries out mutually beneficial exchange of specialists.

International relationship: Mining Institute has international relationships with leading scientific institutions and mining firms of the USA, Canada, France, Belgium, Germany, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Japan, china, SAR, Chile, etc
